The Old School House Secondary School Residential

The classroom on the coast – opportunities for fieldwork & outside the classroom activities for GCSE & beyond.

The Old School House is set in an ideal location for secondary school trips. Our proximity to the coast & the North Yorkshire Moors makes us a fantastic base for geography & biology residentials. Geographers can use the coast to study coastal processes & coastal erosion or the moors & surrounding farmland for land use & land use change. Biologists can use the same locations for marine & inter-tidal ecology & inland for moorland habitats & ecology.

The peaceful setting of the Old School House in Robin Hoods Bay is a benefit for the schools that want a quiet location for intensive study weekends, such as creative writing or maths, or as a venue for art residentials.

Our classroom & dining room can both accommodate up to 40 people. The classroom has the usual group centre resources of a flip chart, chalk board & a projection screen. We can arrange wireless broadband access as required but you will need to bring your own laptops & projectors.

A comfortable lounge area is provided for teaching staff to relax in the evening, along with a kitchen for making unlimited tea & coffee. Our bedrooms are ideally laid out to accommodate & supervise groups whilst still providing teaching staff with comfortable sleeping quarters.

We offer full board accommodation consisting of a cooked breakfast, packed lunch & three course evening meal.

We guarantee sole use for schools & can provide sleeping accommodation for up to 42 people in 9 bunk-bedded rooms.
